Background to
TEA:
Tableland Employment Agency
Incorporated, was established in 1992 by a
group of concerned citizens wanting to provide
services to people with a disability. Tableland
Employment Agencies employment service area
(ESA) covers the Atherton Tablelands, from
Julatten to Mt Garnet and from Dimbulah to
Kuranda.
TEA is funded by the Federal
Government; Department of Education, Employment
and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). TEA
operates two program streams, the Capped
and Uncapped programs. TEA also
receives funding from Disability Services
Queensland (DSQ).
Tableland Employment
Agencies is a Disability Employment Network
(DEN). Generalist DEN member assist
people with a range of disability
types. TEA receives referrals via a
Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) provider or
Centrelink.
TEA works closely with
Tablelands High Schools to be involved in
the transition of school leavers who have a
disability/other barriers to enhance their
opportunities of obtaining open paid employment
in the wider community. TEA also brokers
our services to Disability Services
Queensland in delivering the Post Schools
Services Transition Program.
